A Response to: “Why I’m Voting for Donald Trump”

I wrote this article as a response to a piece entitled “Why I’m Voting For Donald Trump” which can be found here: https://kellyquelette.wordpress.com/2016/10/11/why-im-voting-for-donald-trump/. The points are, for the most part, direct refutation of Ms. Quelette’s own point, so it would be ideal to read both articles side by side.

Regarding the Introduction

“I am voting for Donald Trump. And I want to tell you why.” First, don’t start sentences with “and,” and second, this should be good.

Regarding Rape and Rape Culture

Yes, Trump and rape culture are terrible. Second, Clinton defended a rapist because that was her job, and what the devil are you talking about “Reduced jail time for rapists?” She defended one rapist, and the court records show that Kathy Shelton has lied about the proceedings several times since the trial. Also, are you really comparing confessions of sexual assault to someone doing their job? Everyone gets a lawyer in America, that’s a thing, and it doesn’t matter what they may or may not have done. Regarding the ripple effect, where is your proof of this? People defending rapists in court is worse than people actually raping? What bogus logic is this? “Again, not excusing what he did/said AT ALL.” Yeah, but you kinda just did.

Regarding the Character of the Candidates

“We are WAY beyond voting for a President based on their character.”  No we aren’t. There are several other options for President, including Johnson, Stein, McMullin, and Castle. Don’t make the argument that “a vote for a third party is a vote for Clinton” because that’s a self perpetuating lie. People don’t vote 3rd party, because they’ve been told a 3rd party can’t win, but a 3rd party can’t win because nobody votes for them. The Constitution literally sets up our country to have “factions,” which should result in a multi-party system. If you vote for the lesser of two evils, you don’t understand the American governmental system, or don’t care.

Regarding an Unnecessary Comment that didn’t Better Your Argument in Any Way

“but this is REALITY.” Oh my gatos I thought it was the Matrix. You’re right.

Regarding Public Discourse and Mediating Institutions

Wow, you actually made a good point. Mediating institutions are necessary to a successful social discourse, but what you fail to realize is that the most powerful person in the world will have a significant influence on discourse. Personally, I’d rather have a scummy lawyer leading discourse than a rapist, but that might just be me.

Regarding the Fact that You Watch Fox News

“Hillary wants open borders.” Um, no she doesn’t.

Regarding Terrorism

“In our lifetime, we have been attacked by terrorists FROM OTHER COUNTRIES.” Terrorist attacks from our own citizens are much more frequent, so maybe we should focus on those too.

Regarding the Author’s Insistence to CAPITALIZE Random Words

If this girl doesn’t stop randomly capitalizing for effect, I might cry.

Regarding Fox News, Part II

“Hillary, wants to allow anyone and everyone into our country, regardless of the danger she could be putting her own people in.” Are you fracking kidding me? Stop lying.

Regarding America as a Business

” If [Trump] becomes President, America will be his business.” Oh well considering how well he did in Atlantic City I am greatly relieved. Also, America isn’t a business, so…

Regarding World Police

“when you are the President – AMERICA is your job. Not the rest of the world.” All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. Or, in this case, bad men.

Regarding Taxes

“Hillary has made lots of promises that sound great, but they all require MORE TAXES.” You are so blinded by the nostalgia of Reagan era economics that you can’t even consider the fact that 2016 is not the 1980’s. Taxes are not inherently a bad thing.

Regarding the Supreme Court

Donald Trump has flip-flopped on every issue so much that the public should not be able to trust him. In addition, the Republicans held the majority of the supreme court when Roe v. Wade was passed, so maybe, uh, think before you share your opinion with the internet. If you really want to vote pro-life, support Evan McMullin.

Regarding a Really Stupid Argument

“It’s possible that America would NEVER recover from a 7-2 Democratic majority. “ It is also possible that you will lose your fingers in a freak wolverine accident and never be able to type an article like this again, but I’m afraid the world is not that lucky. America has recovered from a lot worse (see, I dunno, slavery, Jim Crow laws, and Viet-effing-nam.)

Regarding Abortion

Donald Trump has been pro-choice in the past, and he has changed his stance on the issue many times. Don’t think that he won’t change his mind again given the chance. Also, don’t you dare call yourself pro-life if you are anti-immigration for refugees.

Regarding another Really Stupid Argument

“Honestly, voting for someone besides Trump or Hillary is as good as not voting at all. “ Shut up, go read Aristotle’s Politics, the Bible, or if you must, start with BOB books.

Regarding the Post Script

“P.S. Another reason I am voting for Trump is because of who is running with. Mike Pence is a man of character, faith and integrity.” You can google Mike Pence’s sexist comments, but really, if you’re voting for a candidate because one of his cronies is good, you’re just wrong. Franz von Papen was vice-chancellor under Adolf Hitler, and he didn’t manage to stop that racist bastard, so why do you assume that Pence will stop this racist bastard? Vote your conscience, and trust in God.

In conclusion, you’re wrong.

  1. This is the most trash ‘blog’ I’ve ever read. If you were as smart as you think you are, it would’ve been a lot better. Unfortunately, your thick layer of arrogance isn’t thick enough to see that under it you really don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.
